How long have you been in this field and what drew you to it?
This wasn’t a path we planned! In fact, neither of us had any connection to the world of window coverings, our intended backgrounds were in accounting and law. But sometimes the most unexpected opportunities are the ones that make the biggest impact.
What drew us in was recognizing a major gap in the market. So much of the focus in window coverings has always been on aesthetics designs, colors, and trends, but rarely on the functionality that truly matters, like insulation and energy efficiency. We realized there was a real need for products that not only looked great but also helped homeowners lower their energy costs and make smarter choices for their spaces. That’s what inspired us to step in, not just to offer another pretty option, but to rethink how window coverings could actually work for people. It’s been an unexpected journey, lasting over a decade for us both, but one we’re incredibly proud of.
How long have you lived in Las Vegas and what do you like best about it?
We’ve called Las Vegas home for over 30 years, and what we love most is the incredible sense of community that exists here. Beyond the energy and excitement the city is known for, Vegas is a vibrant hub of opportunity, innovation, and support for individuals, businesses, and neighborhoods alike.
As proud UNLV graduates, this city has shaped both our personal and professional journeys. Jose recently completed the Executive MBA program at UNLV and now serves as a board member for the Lee Business School, something we’re especially proud of.
Giving back to the community is a core value for us. Whether through local initiatives, mentorship, or community service, we’re committed to showing up and making a difference. Las Vegas is the kind of place where that’s not only possible, it’s encouraged.

What we want Skye Canyon residents to know is that we’re more than just a shutter company, we’re a team that genuinely cares about quality, service, and giving back.
Yes, we specialize in high-quality DIY shutters, but our mission goes beyond home improvement. Outside of work, we’re personally committed to making a difference in the community. Last year alone, our team volunteered over 135 hours of our own time to local service projects, and we’re already on track to exceed that this year. One of our proudest efforts is a workshop Berenice and I recently launched to help give underprivileged youth a platform to be heard, because we believe real success means using your time and voice to lift others up.
