A modest Las Vegas dog rescue charity has friends in glamorous places.

Volunteer-based A Home 4 Spot, which for 16 years has been fostering, finding forever homes and paying medical bills for abandoned dogs, is taking a turn in the spotlight.
On Saturday, Sept. 27, the band Last House was scheduled to play a benefit concert on behalf of the cause at Sicilian Guys Trattoria, 9800 W. Skye Canyon Park Drive. The Las Vegas natives will be joined by former American Idol contestant Athena Jett — with a $10 (or more if you like) donation getting folks in the door.
“Music has a way of moving people to action,” says Rashell Coates of Last House. “Every dollar spent will help A Home 4 Spot.”
Also helping to get the word out are a dozen big-hearted Las Vegas creatives, who recently gathered for a Sunset Soirée photo shoot in the patio of a luxury northwest valley home. Elevating the shoot’s sparkle were treasures from Dog Junkies, A Home 4 Spot’s thrift shop at Decatur and Craig.
“I was a kid in a candy store,” says model Penni Tovey, who selected props and accessories for the shoot. “Dog Junkies has a little bit of everything, and it all goes to a good cause.”
Along with Tovey, a popular British entertainer before moving to Las Vegas, the volunteers involved in the shoot have a combined social media audience well into six figures that is now learning about A Home 4 Spot.
“I was a supporter of A Home 4 Spot before the shoot,” says Tovey, whose day job is on the Michele Kubiak luxury real estate team, “and it was absolutely smashing to use glam for good and help the cause.”
Evan as the models dazzled, Amy, a 5-month-old Dalmatian, was the star. Adoption offers came in from the first photos posted on social media, and prospective owners are going through A Home 4 Spot’s extensive vetting. Stay tuned.

FIRED UP: You’ve heard of the Bridge to Tomorrow and the Bridge to Nowhere, now Skye Canon has a Bridge to What’s for Dinner.
The recent opening of the Grand Teton Drive bridge over Interstate 11 allows the world west of the freeway easier access to the businesses just north and east of the I-11 exit at Durango Drive. Among them: Rosatti’s Pizza at 8001 N. Durango Drive.
“We’ve already noticed an increase in traffic,” said Rosatti’s owner Travis Corbett, who shares space in a strip center with a swimming school and a taco shop. “It’s great to see more of our Skye Canyon neighbors stopping by.”
The $40 million bridge opened in July.
