The Somerset Academy Skye Pointe boys soccer team hosted a car wash fund-raiser on Aug. 9 at the school parking lot.

Coach Tyler Enders said players from the team washed between 35 and 45 cars, including a classic 1967 Mustang, and a boat. The team raised between $700 ad $1,000.
“We use the funds to buy the kids spirit gear,” Enders said. “Last year was the first we were able to raise enough funds so no kids had to come out of pocket for a practice uniform.”
This year, Enders is hoping for another practice uniform and to also purchase pink socks the team will wear during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
“This fund-raiser is great for the kids,” he said. “This fundraiser teaches the kids about marketing, cash handling, work ethic, manners and, more importantly, the profit/cost associated with planning with this.”
The team kicked off its season on Aug. 18 at Bonanza and plays its first home game on Sept. 2, 5:45 p.m. against Legacy.
